I also liked that the story is complex, which is essential in a suspense tale or mystery. I like when a story stays true to character no matter how unpopular or uncomfortable that may seem. And, they can’t help being themselves in spite of circumstances that call for them to behave differently. There are no perfect individuals here even though some may seem so on the surface. The characters (there are quite a few) are well developed and complicated people. To top it off, a Hollywood true crime writer has come to cover the story and he has designs on Ellen. She’s pitted against a hot shot attorney from Minneapolis with whom she has personal history and a judge who has a super sized ego. What seems to be an open and shut case turns into anything but. She’s been handed the case involving Garrett Wright who Mitch Holt arrested for the assault of Megan O’Malley and the abduction of Josh Kirkwood. The story continues with the State’s Assistant City Attorney Ellen North at the forefront. However, I liked the book even though it had some issues. I’ll start off by saying I’m not a fan of having to read two books to figure out the resolution to a mystery. This is the follow up to the first book in the Deer Lake series.

Gongs in the night indicate that a meeting of the men will happen in the morning. Not being like his father was a driving factor of Okonkwo’s life and his hard work and ambition made him a respected and powerful man in the tribe with titles, a big yam farm, and three wives. Now, 20 years later, Okonkwo is a very important man in his tribe. The fight and his victory earned him much fame and glory. The story starts with a flashback where we meet the main protagonist Okonkwo 20 years in the past as he wins a wrestling competition against the undefeated champion “The Cat”. "In those 15 or 30 seconds that they had my phone, it only takes five steps to get to the screen in Exodus where you can take a picture of the seed phrase," giving them access to the wallet, he said. Hunter and the Kennedys returned to the UK, and the following Monday the so-called investors said the deal was on and they needed $206,000 commission in Bitcoin in the Exodus wallet, to be distributed after the paperwork was signed. "They wanted to know how they were going to get it. "They brought up the subject of that commission," Hunter said. They sat at a table in the bar with "Moreno" and another man calling himself "Richard Janssens" on one side and Hunter and the Kennedys on the other. Many thanks to Avon and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. It Happened One Summer will be available on July 13, 2021. Normally, I'm not one to nit-pick about such things, since the exploration of ethicism is an important and interesting philosophical task but, again, this book went in so many different directions with it that it was difficult to keep up. There was also a problem with the moral and ethical position presented by the book. It seems that the authors of this book had a need for an epic beyond epics, and several bodycounts beyond the capability of a pre-modern war. It also fell into a similar trap to the somewhat similar 'Da Vinci Code', in that it utilized a lot of poorly-researched materials and claimed them as fact.Ī lot of the data matched up poorly with other historical accounts, especially when it came to numerical data. I usually like historical fiction, but this particular example has been so mitigated by the poorly-hidden didactic tautology of its too-many-cooks legion of anonymous authors and editors that it was rather difficult to enjoy. |
